The novel begins in 1942, when Elżbieta "Elżunia" Rówińska is a young woman living in Poland. She is engaged to a man named Tadeusz, and they are planning to marry. However, their plans are interrupted when the Nazis invade Poland and begin to round up Jews and other minorities.

Elżunia is taken to Auschwitz, where she is forced to work as a slave laborer. She experiences unimaginable horrors, but she never gives up hope. She befriends other prisoners, and together they find ways to support each other.

Reason For Hope is a story of survival, hope, and the power of the human spirit. It is a reminder of the horrors of the Holocaust, but it is also a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
