Frank Walters Clark was born into poverty in rural Alabama in 1923. His father was a sharecropper, and his mother worked as a maid. Frank had to start working at a young age to help support his family. He picked cotton, chopped wood, and did odd jobs around the town. Despite his difficult circumstances, Frank dreamed of a better life for himself and his family.
